Enrollment Process

How do you get started with Xcite Steps?

There are three main steps to take getting involved with Xcite Steps: An initial assessment call, an in-home assessment meeting and, finally, helping the child transition into his or her chosen program.

Step 1) Information Call

Initiating services with Xcite Steps is easy! The first step is to contact Xcite Steps at (858) 764-2956 and speak to our Client Relations Director.  This introduction call serves as an opportunity for the parent and Xcite Steps to get to know more about what the child needs, availability of services, and if Xcite Steps will be a good fit for the child.  During the introduction call, our Client Relations Director will also cover insurance eligibility, pricing, and what kinds of services the parent’s are looking for.

Step 2) Clinical Interview

After an initial introduction call, Xcite Steps will arrange a clinical interview.  The clinical interview will be held in the child’s home, with the Xcite Steps’ Clinical Director and the family, giving Xcite Steps an opportunity to interact with the child and learn more about their personality, needs, and what goals the family is looking to meet.  This process helps our Clinical Director determine if Xcite Steps’ programs are a good fit for the child, and what needs to be done to furthest enhance the child’s opportunity for learning, play and growth.   At this meeting the parents also get to know Xcite Steps and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

Step 3) Transitioning Into the Program

After the initial introduction call and the clinical interview, the next step is transitioning into services.  This process involves conducting a Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA), along with other assessments to help develop a unique treatment plan for the child.  We understand that each child is unique and needs customized support, and we use various assessments to help determine the best supportive intervention for the child.  This steps serves as the building blocks for the child’s services.

Step 4) Meeting the Interventionist

Once the building blocks are in place, and all the interviews are completed, the child and parents will meet with both the interventionist and an ABA Supervisor to begin having fun! This starts the beginning of the child’s learning process, and will involve interactive play between the child, the interventionists and the ABA Supervisor to develop rapport, build confidence, and allowing the child to adjusted to our program.  These beginning sessions will involve a lot of free-range play and explorative communication to slowly ease the child into the program.  Our experienced interventionists are trained to find learning opportunities in these free-range play sessions through Xcite Steps’ Natural Opportunity Model, allowing learning to begin from day one!
