Measuring Success

Aspergers Programs and Services

At Xcite Steps, we put great emphasis on collaborative care and meticulous data collection, to ensure that we have the most accurate picture of each child’s capabilities, strengths, and challenges across a variety of domains and settings.  When a child, teen, or adult enters our program, our director or an ABA Supervisor will meet with the parents and, if desired, any other professionals working with the child to set up an Xcite Steps Assessment.  This assessment is an important process as it serves as a base-line for setting goals for treatment, and helps us accurately track progress, as well as ensure that the goals and treatment are on track with the child’s needs. From there, long-term treatment goals are derived as they pertain to behavioral, play, socialization, language, communication, and function skills. These long-term goals are then broken down into short-term, measurable, and achievable benchmarks.

Next, individualized intervention strategies based on empirically supported research and techniques are utilized to begin working on short-term goals.  Quality of services is a primary goal at Xcite Steps, which is why our ABA Supervisors and Interventionists consistently monitor the level of improvement in the client’s skills relative to his or her initial assessment and goals, and subsequent treatment plan updates.  Quality is also maintained by continuous check-ins with the clients and families to ensure comfort and receptiveness to the program and Xcite Steps’ staff.  A combination of careful consultation with parents and clients, paired with continuous, high-accuracy data, maintains a positive trajectory for progress and drives the need for program modifications or additions.

What sets Xcite Steps apart from the rest is the ability to retain such accurate data and continuous assessment of data through therapeutic techniques such as Pivotal Response Training, Task Analysis, Discrete Trial Training, and Preference Assessments, all while maintaining Xcite Steps’ Natural Opportunity Model.  Xcite Steps’ Interventionists and ABA Supervisors are expertly trained to read and analyze data collected to measure progress, speed of skill acquisition, and ensure that treatment goals are appropriate.  The data collected is then graphed to provide visual evidence of therapeutic successes throughout treatment.  Xcite Steps maintains a level of mastery criterion for target skills at various levels to ensure that learned material is stored long-term and can be generalized into the child’s everyday environments.  Xcite Steps utilizes a combination of intervention strategies, assessment tools, and precise data collection though our Natural Opportunity Model to maximize progress with every child.
