The Explorers Club (Ages 9+)

The Explorers Club

The Explorers group is another natural step up from the Adventure Club. While the key focus remains building upon appropriate social interactions, this group also incorporates leadership skills. Both the Adventure and Explorer clubs meet at the same community location each session, which varies from week to week. This allows for the Explorer’s to be role models for the Adventure club, as well as help facilitate interaction between groups. Members of the Explorer Club will continue to work on flexibility and turn taking skills, reciprocal conversation, and most importantly, lay the foundation for building meaningful friendships. Other skills addressed will be perspective taking, reading non-verbal cues, maintaining appropriate conversations, and increasing appropriate leisure skills as they are introduced to various activities throughout the community.

Prior to attendance, Xcite Steps supervisory staff will assess and identify individualized social skills areas for improvement that will be targeted during the 6-week sessions.  The targeted social skills identified will be monitored and tracked, providing instant feedback on the trajectory of progress throughout the sessions.

Intake, Assessment and Functional Behavior Plan

  • Meeting with Xcite Steps Supervisory staff to discuss your child and assess appropriate social club setting
  • Individualized social skills deficits will be identified and then targeted during the 6 week session in a variety of community settings
  • Identified social skills for increase will be monitored and tracked throughout the 6 weeks.
